What to Expect in a Group Yoga Class
Introduction and Warm-up:
- Most classes begin with a few minutes of centering and breathing exercises to prepare the body and mind.
- I offer a brief introduction to the practice and outline the goals of the class.
Yoga Poses (Asanas):
- I will lead you through a series of poses, focusing on breath and alignment.
- There may be variations or modifications for different experience levels, and props such as blocks, straps, or blankets may be used to support your practice.
Breathing (Pranayama):
- Yoga classes often incorporate pranayama (breathing techniques), which help to focus the mind and enhance the benefits of the practice.
- Breathwork helps to calm the nervous system, increase energy, and deepen the physical poses.
Cool-down and Relaxation:
I may also lead a final resting pose (Savasana), where you lie down quietly and absorb the benefits of the practice.
Most classes end with a cool-down period that includes restorative poses, relaxation, or a guided meditation to leave you feeling relaxed and centered.
